'Geri' Corbi, 64, ad saleswoman
"She thrived on making sales calls while enjoying office antics with friends and co-workers," her family said.
After work, she often headed for the Manoa shopping center to check out the stores.
Born in Philadelphia to Henry and Anna Sankowski, Geri, as she was affectionately called by family and friends, bounced around a bit before returning to the Philadelphia area.
After an early marriage, she lived on the Elmendorf Air Force Base, in Anchorage, Alaska, in the '60s, San Bernardino, Calif., and Washington, D.C.
When that marriage ended, she married Carmen J. Corbi in 1974 and they moved to Havertown. Carmen died in 1988.
"Geri was a fun-loving, talkative woman," her family wrote in an obituary. "The happiest years of her life were her final years, full of holiday meals and events with her immediate family and extended family."
Her daughter, Andrea Corbi Fein, described her mother as a human dynamo.
"She was the fastest-moving person I ever knew," she said. "She was full of energy. And she was so friendly, she would talk to anyone. We would go into a store and she would start talking to people. She loved to make people laugh.
"She was a great dancer, singer and storyteller, and was often the life of the party."
At the County Press, Andrea said, the paper would need an ad and Geri would get on the phone "with that sweet little voice" and sell it.
Andrea and her husband, Tom, were her best friends. They would sit in her home and watch "Jeopardy" and "M*A*S*H" reruns.
She had a lovely singing voice, Andrea said, and would sing at home and at parties.
Geri loved going to shows and dining out with her best friend, Adele Mocerno. Other favorite activities included taking care of her dog, Stimpy, a combination husky and Akita, and "keeping her house immaculate."
"Geri had a wonderful extended network of neighborhood friends who cared greatly for her," her family wrote.
She also is survived by two sons, Timothy M. McLaughlin and Stephen R. Corbi, and a brother, Raymond P. Sankowski.
