Burton M. Woskoff, retired 'Bulletin' supervisor
Burton M. Woskoff, a retired delivery supervisor for the old Philadelphia Evening Bulletin and a decorated World War II bombardier, died Sunday from complications of a fall. He was 88 and lived in Garnet Valley.
Burton, a West Philadelphia High graduate, worked for the Bulletin until it closed in 1982, and earned a bachelor's degree from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He later worked as a parking supervisor for Penn until 2002.
He flew 73 combat missions with the 557th Bombardment Squadron, including the Normandy invasion on D-Day 1944. He received the Distinguished Flying Cross and the Air Medal with 13 clusters. He was later president of the squadron association.
His wife of 48 years, Catherine McGinnis, died in 1995. He is survived by a son, Fred; two daughters, Sue Lohan and Lorrie Neiburg; and four grandchildren.
