ATLANTIC CITY - Already serving time in federal prison for taking bribes, former City Council President Craig Callaway is now facing more charges from the Atlantic County prosecutor.

Callaway, who recently began serving a 40-month sentence in Glenville, W. Va., has been charged over one of the more sensational claims in his case - that he secretly taped another councilman having sex in order to blackmail him.

Atlantic County Prosecutor Jeffrey S. Blitz said yesterday that he is charging the 48-year-old Callaway with theft by extortion, conspiracy to commit theft by extortion and invasion of privacy.

Callaway's brother, 51-year-old Ronald Callaway, and Atlantic City employee Floyd Tally, 37, face the same charges related to the alleged blackmail scheme. Tally is also charged with witness tampering.

Authorities claim Craig Callaway set up Councilman Eugene Robinson in a secretly filmed motel encounter, and then tried to use the November 2006 recording to blackmail Robinson into resigning.

Robinson, though, refused to quit, and contacted authorities. The councilman, who also is a Baptist minister, said the sex was consensual. *
