Could you use 10G? Turn in this cop shooter

Some lucky so-and-so could be $10,000 richer just in time for the holidays.

Hey, it could be you. All you have to do is turn in Nasuil "Nas" Martinez, the 20-year-old accused of shooting Officer Kevin Gorman in North Philadelphia on Friday.

John McNesby, the president of the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 5, announced the hefty reward yesterday.

He made a point of stressing that there are no strings attached.

"You don't have to wait for a conviction," McNesby said last night. "Just bring him in. As quick as you can get him in, we'll have the check ready."

Half of the reward has been posted by the FOP; the other half came from the U.S. Marshal Service.

Police have said that Martinez jumped out of a car that was stopped by Gorman and his partner for speeding about 2:35 a.m. Friday.

The 33-year-old officer chased Martinez down Howard Street near Westmoreland. Martinez jumped over a fence, police said, and then fired two shots at Gorman from a .45-caliber handgun.

One bullet tore through the cop's shoulder. McNesby said that Gorman, whom he described as a "good, aggressive cop," was lucky to be alive.

"Another inch or two, and we could have been planning a funeral," he said.
