Man shot 6 times in Olney A shooting in Olney last night left a 25-year-old man in critical condition, police said. The victim, whom they did not identify, was shot twice in the head, twice in the right arm and twice in the leg on Marshall Street near Louden about 9 p.m., said Officer Jill Russell, a police spokeswoman. The victim was admitted to Albert Einstein Medical Center. Police had no suspects and knew of no motive.

Man shot 7 times in SW Phila.

A 20-year-old man was riddled with seven bullets in Southwest Philadelphia yesterday, police said. The victim, whose name they did not release, was approached by a group of about four men near 61st Street and Buist Avenue about 5 p.m., said Lt. John Walker of Southwest Detectives. The victim was hit in the chest, legs and arms. He was listed in critical but stable condition at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, Walker said.

Car thief gets donated books

A 10-year-old maroon Plymouth Voyager van with 185,000 miles on it should not have attracted your average car thief. But this vehicle was special. It contained about 500 donated books destined for a North Philadelphia elementary school.

The van was found missing yesterday morning by its owner, Jean Warrington, who had parked it at the rear of her home in Chestnut Hill. She and other volunteers had collected the books from Jeanes Hospital, the Green Street Friends Meeting, Friends Central High School and individual donors to benefit the Clymer Elementary School at 9th Street and Indiana Avenue.

Scout eviction ruling

A federal judge yesterday ordered the city to "immediately cease and desist" efforts in Common Pleas Court to evict the local Boy Scouts chapter, the Cradle of Liberty Council, from its rent-free headquarters building at 22nd and Winter streets while a federal lawsuit is pending. The ruling by U.S. District Judge Ronald L. Buckwalter does not prevent the city from pursuing similar claims in the federal suit.

Council OKs pedicabs

City Council adopted an ordinance yesterday legalizing the pedicab industry. According to Councilwoman Blondell Reynolds Brown, the sponsor, the action would attract tourists and create eco-friendly jobs.

Nu-Juice Foundation honor

The Philadelphia-based Nu-Juice Foundation and its chief executive officer, Jerome Chaney, received the FBI director's Community Leadership Award yesterday for their work with low-

income and disadvanaged youths ages 6 to 18.
