The FBI and Philadelphia police are looking for Kebrum Teklu, 22, who is wanted in connection with the armed robberies of three food outlets in Delaware and Chester counties.

He is accused of robbing the McDonald's on Lancaster Avenue in Radnor on Oct. 14, the Dunkin Donuts on Lancaster Avenue in Devon on Oct. 18, and Delancey Street Bagels on Wynnewood Road in Wynnewood on Oct. 19.

He is described as black, thin, 6-foot-2, with tattoos on both arms. Tipsters should call the FBI at 218-418-4000, or the Philadelphia police.

Authorities are asking for the public's help in tracking down the man who robbed the PNC Bank at 6705 Rising Sun Ave. Monday and the Bank of America at 6425 Rising Sun Ave. yesterday.

The robber is a tall, middle-aged black man with a salt-and-pepper beard. He was wearing a white baseball cap, dark-colored waist-length jacket and black boots. Tipsters should call the FBI at 215-418- 4000 or Philadelphia police.

Auction for papers still on

An offer by three local investors to put up roughly $72 million in cash and credit for ownership of the Daily News and Inquirer apparently failed to stoke the interest of the newspapers' major creditors.

A deadline for senior lenders to accept the offer passed yesterday without action. Fred S. Hodara, the attorney representing Angelo, Gordon & Co., CIT Group, and several other large, secured lenders, said his clients "are proceeding full speed" to prepare their own bid for the newspapers, in a Chapter 11 bankruptcy auction scheduled for Nov. 18.

Smuggler loses chess game

A calculated move to inspect a heavy chessboard paid off for customs officers at Philadelphia International Airport when federal officials on Saturday seized more than two pounds of hashish and some marijuana inside the wooden game board. The chessboard was heavier than expected, arousing the suspicion of Customs and Border Protection agents.

Agency spokesman Steve Sapp says the hash had been shipped from Tanzania but he declined to say where it was headed. No arrests have been made.

Union retains school workers

Unite Here Local 634 will continue to represent 2,300 food-service workers and noontime aides in the School District of Philadelphia after members voted 1,121- 551 to remain with the union.

The action thwarts the efforts of the Philadelphia Joint Board, an affiliate of Workers United, under the Service Employees International Union, to represent them.
