Three teens are in stable condition after being stabbed by a man while riding the El Saturday night, police said. Eight teenage boys were riding the train about 11 when an argument broke out between them and a 40-year-old man, police said.

The unidentified man then pulled out a knife and stabbed three of the teens and fled. Two of the boys were sent to the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, the third was taken to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.

Man shot in Mantua

A man in his 50s is hospitalized with a gunshot wound to the leg after police said a gunman opened fire on him in Mantua last night. Police said the man was shot about 6:40 p.m. on Ogden Street near Union by a man in his 40s. The victim was taken to Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania where he's expected to recover.

Olney woman dies in crash

Monique Armstrong, 32, of Grange Avenue near 17th Street, Olney, was killed at 4:30 a.m. yesterday when her car struck two trees on 13th Street near Wyoming Avenue, police said. Armstrong's 2009 Pontiac Grand Prix, going north, veered into the southbound lanes where it hit a tree, bounced off and hit a second tree, police said.

Protest at Franklin Mills

A number of demonstrators were arrested Saturday when crowds of people gathered at the Franklin Mills Mall, some protesting and others supporting the presence of Army recruiters with combat-simulation games. Dozens of protesters demanded the Army Experience Center be closed; dozens of counter-protesters, including Vietnam War veterans, heckled them.

Meehan joining House race

Former U.S. Attorney Pat Meehan is to announce his GOP candidacy for the U.S. House seat being vacated by Democratic Rep. Joe Sestak, with news conferences today in Delaware, Montgomery and Chester counties. Meehanis the former district attorney of Delaware County, where the 7th Congressional District is centered. Sestak announced this summer that he's challenging U.S. Sen. Arlen Specter in the 2010 Democratic primary.

Chester Co. mom charged

Prosecutors in Chester County have accused a mother of tampering with evidence in the case of her son, who is charged with killing a teenager last fall. Authorities say that Cynthia Chapman Graves, 51, of Coatesville, tried to hide the car owned by Laquanta Chapman, 29, by driving it to New Jersey and leaving it there.

She was arraigned before a district judge Thursday on charges of hindering apprehension, tampering with physical evidence and criminal conspiracy.

Prosecutors say Laquanta Chapman shot Aaron Turner, 16, Oct. 30, dismembered him with a chain saw and left the remains along the road in trash bags for pickup.
