* A Friday story about a double homicide at the Piazza at Schmidts suggested that the owner of the complex ought to conduct background checks on tenants. A spokeswoman for Tower Investments says routine background checks are conducted on all potential tenants.

* Due to an editing error, Friday's article about chess player Orrin Hudson, who mentors troubled young people, incorrectly reported that he lives in Birmingham, Ala. Hudson, a Birmingham native, now lives in Atlanta.
