Another Sea Isle City mystery: Man, 24, found dead in summer home

The last time Michael Patzuk Sr. heard from his oldest son, Michael, was Sunday, when the "average kid," who loved to surf and watch the Phillies, called for Father's Day.

"He just wished me Happy Father's Day, and that was it," Patzuk said yesterday.

"That was the end of it."

Authorities in Sea Isle City yesterday were trying to determine what ended the life of the 24-year-old from Chalfont, Bucks County, less than two days later.

Patzuk was the second suburban Philadelphia resident to die in unusual circumstances in the Cape May County resort town this year.

Michael Patzuk Jr. was found dead inside a house on 40th Street about 10:30 a.m. Tuesday.

The Cape May County Prosecutor's Office is awaiting the results of an autopsy by the Southern Regional Medical Examiner's Office to determine the cause and manner of death.

Patzuk's father said that his son shared a summer rental with friends in the resort, but went down only on weekends because he worked in marketing for GSI Commerce in King of Prussia.

The Lansdale Catholic High School and Bloomsburg University graduate was not drinking or using drugs, and had no serious illnesses, his father said.

Cape May County Prosecutor Robert Taylor declined to comment about Patzuk's death.

In February, Tracy Hottenstein, 35, of Conshohocken, last seen leaving a popular Sea Isle bar during a festive weekend, was found dead hours later near a city-owned marina.

She had injuries to her arms, legs and ribs.

An autopsy eventually determined that she died of hypothermia complicated by acute alcohol intoxication.
