Man wanted in killings caught in Egypt

Maybe he wanted to see if the pyramids were still standing.

But more likely, Kyree Slocum was hiding 6,000 miles away from the FBI and Philadelphia authorities who wanted him on charges of killing two men and wounding two others in a North Philadelphia house last fall.

FBI agents and Egyptian authorities arrested Slocum in Cairo on May 29, the FBI announced yesterday. Slocum, 35, surrendered without a fuss.

He is accused of the drug-related murders of Barry Johnson, 33, and Rubin Eason, 28, who were shot Oct. 23 inside a house on Marshall Street near York.

He is also accused of wounding Christopher Johnson, 21, and another man.

At the time of the shootings, Homicide Capt. James Clark said, "They were all in the drug game."

Philadelphia FBI agents and Philadelphia homicide detectives assigned to the FBI Violent Crimes Fugitive Task Force traveled to Cairo to take custody of Slocum, of Cambridge Street near 38th, and return him to Philadelphia. *
