Police said the gun-toting fiend broke into an appliance warehouse, on Commerce Way near McNulty Road, at about 9:20 p.m. One employee was wounded in the foot. Three others were bound but managed to free themselves and escape, investigators said. As of early today, the gunman was holed up inside the warehouse, alone, while dozens of SWAT cops waited outside.

No other information was immediately available.

Cop suspected of DUI

An off-duty police officer was arrested on suspicion of DUI yesterday, after hitting a cement pole, police said. The cop, assigned to the 5th District in Roxborough, was in Roxborough when he crashed his vehicle on Fountain Street near Umbria about 4:30 p.m., police said. He was taken into custody but no charges had been filed last night. Internal Affairs is investigating.

Woman charged in slaying

Sophia Crawley, 23, has been arrested in connection with the Saturday stabbing death of Devin Coleman, 28, of Townsend Road near McNulty, in the Northeast. The stabbing, which police called a domestic incident, occurred on Ditman Street near Rhawn in Holmesburg, where Crawley lives.

Youth charged in hit-run

A 15-year-old boy who turned himself in Sunday in the Christmas Eve hit-and-run that killed William Wrigley, 73, faces charges of involuntary manslaughter, homicide by vehicle while under the influence. Following a detention hearing yesterday at the Youth Study Center, the teen was kept in custody, said a spokeswoman for the District Attorney's Office.

Carbon monoxide kills sisters

Two elderly sisters were killed Sunday by carbon monoxide poisoning in their Ridley Park home when a car left running in the garage filled the house with gas. Ridley Township police said the bodies of Helen Pompo, 87, and Cecilia Passarelli, 85, were found yesterday morning.

Police said Passarelli was from Philadelphia and had been visiting Pompo. A neighbor alerted police about an odor of gas at 11 a.m., and authorities broke in and found the car running in the garage and the women's bodies.

Camden man shot to death

Louis Sanchez, 27, of Camden, was found shot to death at about 11:30 p.m. Sunday at 27th Street and Lincoln Avenue, Camden. He had been shot several times.

Bicycling bank thief strikes

A bank robber who escapes on a bicycle struck yesterday for the third time since October, according to the FBI. He held up a Hi-Nella branch of TD Bank just after 8:30 a.m. He was wearing a black knit cap, sunglasses and an Old Navy sweatshirt. He has also hit banks in Glendora and Blackwood. He's white, in his 30s, about 5 feet 10, 180 to 200 pounds.*
