Slain woman identified

Homicide investigators now have a name to go on, but little else to explain the murder of a pregnant woman in Frankford earlier this week.

Homicide investigators now have a name to go on, but little else to explain the murder of a pregnant woman in Frankford earlier this week.

Police said Emine Hajredinaj, 20, was found in a car outside her home on Overington Street near Griscom just after 1 a.m. Thursday, with a shotgun blast to the back.

Hajredinaj died at Temple University Hospital, but doctors miraculously saved the life of her 28-weeks-old baby girl. She was in critical but stable condition at Temple last night.

Also recovering is an unidentified man in his 20s who turned up at Frankford Hospital-Frankford Thursday morning with gunshot wounds of his left arm, right shoulder and chest.

Police believe the man was Hajredinaj's boyfriend and was with her when she was fatally wounded. He was later transferred to Temple University Hospital in stable condition. But as of last night, detectives still have not interviewed the man, said Homicide Capt. Michael Costello.

Two unlit Molotov cocktails were found outside of Hajredinaj's house Thursday, adding to the mystery surrounding her death.

"We have some theories, but at this point, we're not really sure that we know the real story," Costello said. Investigators have complained about a lack of cooperation from neighbors and potential witnesses.

A handful of stuffed animals and a few soggy roses were scattered in front of Hajredinaj's house last night, but the neighborhood remained silent. *
