Tattle: Duchovny completes rehab stint

AS IF IT wasn't hard enough already to get a date, the competition has just increased tenfold.

David Duchovny is out on the street again.

Says lawyer Stanton Stein: "David has successfully completed his rehabilitation, he is out of rehab and will be starting a movie soon."

Duchovny, who plays a sex-obsessed character on Showtime's "Californication" and previously played a sex-obsessed character in Showtime's "Red Shoe Diaries" - at what point is the performance no longer acting? - voluntarily entered rehab in late August for sex addiction.

Duchovny, 48, has been married to the smart, beautiful and funny Tea Leoni since 1997. They have two children.

Esquire names tastiest Berry

Alongside a photo spread that shows her in little more than a T-shirt, Halle Berry talks about her title as Esquire's Sexiest Woman Alive.

"I don't know exactly what it means, but being 42 and having just had a baby, I think I'll take it," says Berry, who gave birth to her daughter, Nahla, in March.

"Sexiness is a state of mind - a comfortable state of being," she says. "It's about loving yourself in your most unlovable moments."

But humble Halle can't claim the sexiest-woman honor all to herself.

"I share this title with every woman, because every woman is a nominee for it at any moment," she says.

Uh, no.

Fire guts Nolte home - or not

We had another gossip "Rashomon" moment yesterday at Tattle central.

First came a report from TMZ.com that there had been a fire at Nick Nolte's Malibu mansion. TMZ wrote: "Nolte suffered smoke inhalation and abrasions. . . . As for the house, there's about $500,000 in content damage, and approximately $1 million damage to the structure."

Soon after came the report from the Associated Press, which said the fire, "caused an estimated $3.5 million in damage and left the home a total loss."

And then we got the report from "Extra" that claims that Nolte's rep said in a statement: "There was an electrical fire at Nick Nolte's house today. No one was injured and there was no structural damage to the house."
