Veterans affairs
Phil Donahue will be in town tomorrow night to host a Q&A session after the 7:35 screening of "Body of War" at the Ritz at the Bourse. Donahue and Ellen Spiro produced and directed the documentary about Iraq war vet Tomas Young, who was shot and paralyzed after serving just five days in Iraq.
* Q102's Blaire Galaton will be part of a 5K walk on Saturday in honor of her friend 1st Lt. Colby James Umbrell, a 1999 Central Bucks East grad who was killed last May while serving in Iraq as a member of the 1st Battalion, 501st Parachute Infantry Regiment. Mascots judge mascot tryout
Firstrust Bank is holding an open casting call for someone to play its mascot, Trusty. The call is from noon until 2 p.m. tomorrow at the Philadelphia Marriott Downtown (12th & Market). Adding to the pressure, contestants will be judged by a jury of their potential peers. Sixers mascot Hip Hop, the Philadelphia Soulman, the Temple Owl, Philadelphia Kixx SocceRoo, the Penn Quaker and the Wilmington Blue Rocks' Rocky Bluewinkle are among celebrity judges.
FYI: We served briefly as the Bulldog of the Lower Merion High team that Kobe Bryant carried to a state basketball title.

Doc: 'Not going anywhere'
John Dougherty isn't burying his head in the sand after losing the First District State Senate primary last week and resigning his Redevelopment Authority post this week. On Monday, more than 100 friends helped Johnny Doc celebrate his 48th birthday at IBEW Local 98's Fairmount headquarters. The next night, Doc supporters took over a private room at Spasso (34 S. Front). Among those attending the parties were City Councilmen Bill Green and Jack Kelly, State Reps Bill Keller and Mike O'Brien, Traffic Court Judge Bob Mulgrew, former mayoral candidate Tom Knox, attorney George Bochetto, Building Trades Council's Pat Gillespie, and attorney and Dougherty for Senate finance chair Sam Pond. At both events, Doc assured his supporters, "We're not going anywhere."

NBC 10's Kristen Welker, singer Lauren Hart, 95.7 BEN FM's Marilyn Russell and Philadelphia Soul arena host Melissa Daley will be part of tonight's High Heels Kick Out Kidney Disease to benefit the National Kidney Foundation. The fashion fundraiser starts at 6 at Neiman Marcus in King of Prussia.
