'Suddenly' knowing our value

Famous faces remind us to go for gold

IF THERE was any doubt about a woman's self-worth, it was quashed Friday, when more than 500 ladies converged on the Loews Hotel Philadelphia (1200 Market St.) for the Know Your Value event.

Aimed at empowering working women in today's world, the day's focus was on advising women how to negotiate through life - in relationships, at home and at work - and how to get ahead. Brooke Shields was there, talking self-esteem.

"I'm more effective as a friend," she said. "I'm more effective as a parent. I'm more effective in my job because I have the clarity to know that no matter what, I'm going to be there for myself."

Our social butterfly, Jenice Armstrong, was in the audience when MSNBC's Mika Brzezinski introduced the all-star panel - NBC10's Renee Chenault-Fattah, advertising guru Donny Deutsch, talk-radio host Joe Scarborough and TV news anchor Hoda Kotb, among others.

A mane event

Michael Vick will be in town on Saturday to help celebrate the opening of his wife's fashionable new store, My Hair Closet, which specializes in offering luxury hair extensions.

Kijafa Vick and business partner Blair Sandlain in 2011 launched their first business, PNK Elephant - an accessory boutique for women that began on the Internet and has since grown into a trendy clothing store at its new home on Broad Street near Parrish.

Join the Vicks from 2 to 6 p.m. Saturday at 828 N. Broad St. for cocktails and a first look at some of the high-quality, shed-free, long-lasting tresses worn by such celebrities as Gabrielle Union, Zendaya and Niecy Nash. Get there early for a complimentary gift bag. Vick promises a party.

Rumors at Coachella

A couple of Philly-native celebs made headlines over the weekend with their appearances at Coachella, the music-and-arts festival in the California desert.

Reports surfaced Sunday that a feud erupted between Amber Rose and Kendall Jenner at David Arquette's Bootsy Bellows nightclub when Jenner reportedly discovered Rose in her VIP spot. Speaking to E! News later, Rose denied the "clash" ever occurred.

Bradley Cooper and model ex-girlfriend Suki Waterhouse were spotted getting cozy at Coachella. Eyewitnesses told E! News that the "Hangover" star was seen hugging and smooching the young English model on Friday night during the festival. Hope on the horizon for a reunion?

Ex-child star coming to Comic Con

Keshia Knight Pulliam, probably best known for her role as the lovable Rudy Huxtable on "The Cosby Show," is making her Comic Con debut next month.

"This is my first opportunity to do it," Pulliam told me in a phone interview.

"It's such an interesting world I haven't had the opportunity to experience. When the opportunity came about, I was excited to participate."

Pulliam will be signing autographs at Wizard World's Philadelphia Comic Con for her role as Miranda Lucas-Payne on TBS' comedy-drama "Tyler Perry's House of Payne," and several others. More recently, Pulliam may be remembered for being the first contestant kicked off the seventh season of "Celebrity Apprentice."
