Eats beat

_ Ambler will debut its Restaurant Week, Sunday through July 15. Nearly a dozen restaurants, including Trax Restaurant & Cafe (27 W. Butler Ave., Ambler, 215-591-9777), will offer discounted prix-fixe meals and other specials. On selected evenings there will be live music along Butler Pike and retailers will stay open later. The celebration culminates with a grand Art Stroll from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. July 16.

  2. Victory Brewing Co. (420 Acorn Lane, 610-873-0881, Downingtown) has been brewing root beer since 1997 but just began selling cases ($22.99) and six-packs ($5.99) at its retail shop and brewpub. Also newly available to take home is Victory Ice Cream in three flavors: Triple Monkey, a banana ice cream made with the wort from Golden Monkey; Hopped Up Devil, a cayenne and cinnamon ice cream made from HopDevil wort; and Storm King Crunch, a chocolate ice cream made with the wort from Storm King Stout. Pints retail for $4.24; quarts are $7.99.

  3. Fridays through July, Meritage Restaurant & Wine Bar (500 S. 20th St., 215-985-1922) and Chef Anne Coll will showcase local farm products at a Farmhouse Feast - four courses paired with two organic wines for $45.

  4. OpenTable has announced the 100 winners of its Diners' Choice Awards for Kid-Friendly Restaurants in the United States. Among the winners, drawn from more than 10 million reviews submitted by OpenTable diners, were Max Brenner (1500 Walnut St., 215-344-8150) and Percy Street Barbecue (900 South St., 215-625-8510).   5. Every Thursday through the summer, the new Balcony restaurant at the DoubleTree by Hilton Philadelphia (237 S. Broad St., 215-893-1667) is inviting guests to bring their own beer and wine while they have dinner on the mezzanine. No bottle fee, either.
