POP
"Connecting People With Art" is the theme for the 24th annual October Gallery Philadelphia International Art Expo. Visual arts are the main event, with 100 exhibitors. But poetry, a job fair, a book fair with authors such as Omar Tyree, a comedy contest with "Good Times' " Jimmie Walker and other activities are planned. Then there's music - lots of it. It would almost be easier to list who isn't on board for the "Love Train" concert tomorrow, featuring the O'Jays, Russell Thompkins Jr. and the New Stylistics, Eddie Holman, Harold Melvin's BlueNotes, the Jones Girls, the Delfonics, the Intruders and the incomparable "Ice Man," Jerry Butler. Artists appearing throughout the weekend include Bobbi Humphrey, Clifton Davis, J. Velloso and Billy Thompson.

ALTERNATIVE
Girls Rock Philly, the summer rock camp for girls ages 9-17, had its third and biggest year yet, with 50 students from all over the region joining together for a week to learn their instrument of choice, songwriting, stage moves and put on a show. Now they have their own soundtrack, with their first camper comp, "Who Rocks? Girls Rock!" Pick it up at this CD release party. The title is the name of their theme song, written by the volunteer house band, and their rallying cry. At Girls Rock Philly, you don't make mistakes, you say, "I rocked that." The show benefits the Girls Rock Camp Alliance, which supports camps all over the world.
Johnny Brenda's, 1201 N. Frankford Ave., noon-4 p.m. tomorrow, $5, free for children under 9, 215-739-9684, www.girlsrockphilly.org.

JAZZ
Like tenor player Eric Alexander, with whom he often shares a stage, alto saxophonist Jim Snidero is a solid, consistent instrumentalist whose understated approach keeps him just outside the spotlight. He's the type who garners "up and coming" accolades long after he's already arrived. Snidero has been recording as a leader for 25 years now. His latest, "Crossfire," is another example of his gift for unfussy, emotionally direct communication. He plays the sax like actor John Wayne speaks, to the point and cutting. Beside him for this gig will be the fine guitarist Peter Bernstein, bassist Paul Gill and drummer McClenty Hunter.
Chris' Jazz Café, 1421 Sansom St.,
