Music:

Live music and more today and tomorrow, compiled by Shaun Brady, Tom Di Nardo, James Johnson, Sara Sherr and Laurie T. Conrad.

Pop . . . plus

Steve Kimock Crazy Engine: Longtime innovator in music and music-making equipment blows it up in his latest incarnation, which includes Hammond B3 master Melvin Seals (Jerry Garcia Band), his drummer son John Morgan Kimock and cellist Trevor Exter. There's a '70s fusion flashback in the work, but the "Guitar Monk" keeps things fresh. Baby Grand Room @ Grand Opera House, 818 N. Market St., Wilmington, Del., 8 tonight. $25 advance, $30 at the door. www.kimock.com.

Keb' Mo': Catch the Delta blues specialist - aka Kevin Moore from South L.A. - who always struts some mighty stuff in his live shows. Nice opener, too, in Southern soul-pop chanteuse Kristina Train, who's got a great debut disc, "Spilt Milk." Keswick Theatre, Easton Road and Keswick Avenue, Glenside, 8 tonight, $42 and $32, 215-572-7650, www.keswicktheatre.com. Also, Grand Opera House, 818 Market St., Wilmington, Del., 7 p.m. tomorrow, $52-$34, 800-37-GRAND, www.grandopera.org.

The Swell Season: Glen Hansard and Markéta Irglová enchanted (and won an Oscar) for their work in the low-budget but very hi-fi film, "Once." They've expanded their delicately wrenching duo sound to include a full band for their latest, "Strict Joy." Opening is Doveman, aka Thomas Bartlett, one of the most sought-after collaborators in the independent music scene. Merriam Theater, 250 S. Broad St., 8 p.m. tomorrow, $35, 877-598-8696, livenation.com.

HIP-HOP, R&B

Smokey Robinson: Legendary Detroit soul singer, embodiment of Motown Records, does what are sure to be two incredible shows this weekend. Tropicana Showroom, 2831 Boardwalk, Atlantic City, 9 tonight, $25, $45 and $55, 609-340-4000, www.tropicana.net.

Kadri Gopalnath: American audiences may know Gopalnath best for his crossover into jazz, but in India he is renowned as a pioneer in bringing the alto sax into Carnatic classical music. Gopalnath will perform in that capacity with violin and mridanga. Mitchell Auditorium, Drexel University, 3128 Market St., 7 tonight, $12-$22, 215-310-1783, www.sruti.org.
