Pop...plus

Live music and more, tonight through Thursday, compiled by Shaun Brady, Tom Di Nardo, James Johnson, Sara Sherr and Laurie T. Conrad.

Pop . . . plus

Engelbert Humperdinck: If you want to see him, you probably have your ticket already. You also know that his voice remains remarkably full-throttle. Keswick Theatre, Easton Road and Keswick Avenue, Glenside, 8 tonight, $59.50 and $49.50, 215-572-7650, keswicktheatre.com.

The Walkmen: Since their 2002 debut, "Everyone Who Pretended to Like Me is Gone," this band has seen its fan base grow and its live and recorded sounds - once very different - meld into a bold, evocative rumble. They're playing Penn's Fall Show with the lastest-buzz Pains of Being Pure at Heart. Irvine Auditorium, 3400 Spruce St., 8 tonight, all ages, $15.

Sean Bones: He's a man and a band that references reggae and dancehall and delivers music with a side of goofy, but in a good, tuneful way. Opening for Benevento and Russo Duo. The Note, 142 E. Market St., West Chester, 9 tonight, $17, www.thenotewc.com.

Harper Simon: Yes, he's the son of that other Simon, but though there's certainly an aural family resemblance (hey, he could do worse!), Paul's boy has a nicely honed, countrified sound all his own. Puck, Printers Alley, 14 E. Court St., Doylestown, 8:30 tonight, $5, 215-348-9000, www.pucklive.com.

Steve Kimock Crazy Engine: Longtime innovator in music and music-making equipment blows it up in his latest incarnation, which includes Hammond B3 master Melvin Seals (Jerry Garcia Band), his drummer son John Morgan Kimock and cellist Trevor Exter. There's a '70s fusion flashback in the work, but the "Guitar Monk" keeps things fresh. Baby Grand Room @ Grand Opera House, 818 N. Market St., Wilmington, Del., 8 p.m. tomorrow. $25 advance, $30 at the door. www.kimock.com.

Keb' Mo': Catch the Delta blues specialist - aka Kevin Moore from South L.A. - who always struts some mighty stuff in his live shows. Nice opener, too, in Southern soul-pop chanteuse Kristina Train, who's got a great debut disc, "Spilt Milk." Keswick Theatre, Easton Road and Keswick Avenue, Glenside, 8 p.m. tomorrow, $42 and $32, 215-572-7650, www.keswicktheatre.com. Also, Grand Opera House, 818 Market St., Wilmington, Del., 7 p.m. Sunday, $52-$34, 800-37-GRAND, www.grandopera.org.

The Swell Season: Glen Hansard and Markéta Irglová enchanted (and won an Oscar) for their work in the low-budget but very hi-fi film, "Once." They've expanded their delicately wrenching duo sound to include a full band for their latest, "Strict Joy." Opening is Doveman, aka Thomas Bartlett, one of the most sought-after collaborators in the independent music scene. Merriam Theatre, 250 S. Broad St., 8 p.m. Sunday, $35, 877-598-8696, livenation.com.

Bob Dylan: Hey, Mr. Tambourine Man, you're back on campus again. Liacouras Center, 1776 N. Broad St., 7:30 p.m. Monday, $49.50, $34.50 students, comcastTIX.com or 1-800-298-4200.

Monsters of Folk: Conor Oberst, Jim James, M Ward and Mike Mogis are making music as an eponymous group that somehow adds up to less than its parts, if you ask us (though plenty of folks are loving it). But they promise live tunes from their respective Bright Eyes, My Morning Jacket and M Ward catalogs, too. Academy of Music, Broad and Locust streets, 8 p.m. Monday, $50.50 and $40.50, 215-893-1999, www.kimmelcenter.org.

Bobby Long: He once played open-mike nights alongside "Twilight" star Robert Pattison, which may help explain how one of his songs got on the blockbuster film soundtrack. Now the British singer-songwriter has his own CD, and it's getting noticed. North Star, 27th and Poplar streets, 7 p.m. Wednesday, $15, 215-787-0488, www.northstarbar.com.

HIP-HOP, R&B

Fresh Air Tour: Brother Ali is hitting the road again with his Rhymesayers label mates Evidence, Toki Wright and Bk One to support his recently released, critically acclaimed album, "Us." First Unitarian Church, 2125 Chestnut St., 8 tonight, $15, all ages, 215-563-3980, www.philauu.org.

Smokey Robinson: Legendary Detroit soul singer, embodiment of Motown Records, does what are sure to be two incredible shows this weekend. Tropicana Showroom, 2831 Boardwalk, Atlantic City; 9 tonight and 9 p.m. tomorrow, $25, $45 and $55, 609-340-4000, www.tropicana.net.

The Bounce: Monthly tradition continues with special guest Kenny Meez of Federation Sound joining resident DJs Emynd and Bo Bliz. The genre-blending jams go until 2 a.m. Barbary, 951 Frankford Ave., 9 tonight, free before 10 p.m., $5 after, 215-634-7400, myspace.com/thenewbarbary.

"Flowers" by Asaad Listening Party: It's at Larry Gold's studio, where the Roots record. Plus, what's been heard from "Flowers" so far has been excellent. The Studio, 413 N. 7th St., 10 tonight, $10, 215-629-5557, www.thestudiophilly.com.

Superdope: Since relocating to Raven Lounge, this weekly party has been steadily gaining steam, with tunes from DJ Phsh, hosts F.A.M.E. One and Vanache, and the occasional surprise guest. Raven Lounge, 1718 Sansom St., 10 p.m. Tuesday, free, 215-840-3577, www.ravenlounge.com.

Sëla: Hip-hop meets funk with a bit of rock thrown in for good measure with Sëla, Swift Technique and Dragonzord representing three local takes on each genre, respectively, with DJ Gnarwhal accompanying the groups on the ones and twos. Silk City, 435 Spring Garden St., 9 p.m. Tuesday, $6, 21-plus, 215-592-8838, www.silkcityphilly.com.

Diamond District: DMV (D.C./Maryland/Virginia area) group headlines this underground hip-hop show that includes Jersey's Cymarshall Law, local duo Hustle Simmons and Philly's own 84. DJ Ultraviolet handles things behind the turntables while the "Un-slim Shady," Big O, hosts. Silk City, 435 Spring Garden St., 9 p.m. Wednesday, $10, 21-plus, 215-592-8838, www.silkcityphilly.com.
