Tattle: Mel Gibson's girlfriend has his baby

MEL GIBSON, whose family is already big enough to have its own reality-TV show, is a dad again.

Girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva gave birth to a girl named Lucia Friday at an L.A. hospital.

Gibson, an allegedly devout Catholic, has seven children with his ex-wife, Robyn, of whom he once infamously said she would be going to hell because she was not Catholic.

Not sure where the whole baby-out-of-wedlock-with-your-mistress thing fits into Gibson's version of the Good Book.

Country not Country enough

Tattle spent the better part of last week driving through parts of America where the only sounds on the radio were country music and static, so we heard a lot of Taylor Swift and songs like that old chestnut "Trashy Women":

"I like my women just a little on the trashy side/When they wear their clothes too tight and their hair is dyed/Too much lipstick an' er too much rouge/Gets me excited, leaves me feeling confused/An' I like my women just a little on the trashy side."

So when country-music legend George Jones says he isn't a big fan of where the genre has moved in recent years, we're really not sure what he means.

Jones made the comments during a recent interview when asked about music by Swift and Carrie Underwood.

"They had to use something that was established already, and that's traditional country music. So what they need to do really, I think, is find their own title, because they're definitely not traditional country music," he said.

"It's good to know that we still do traditional country music. Alan Jackson still does it, so does George Strait. We still have it, and there's quite a few of us that are going to hope that it comes back one of these days."

Asked whether he'd ever branch out to a different genre of music, like country legends Johnny Cash, Dolly Parton and Willie Nelson did or even consider rap, the 78-year-old Jones laughed and said: "Rap? That's tacky."

"How can you call that music?" he added. "Now, I love music, too. I love all kinds. I really do. I've got Brook Benton. I like his singing. Ray Charles. I've got an open mind. But now, you can't call rap, talking stuff like that, music. No, no, no, you've got to have another name for that."

Open-minded because you like Ray Charles? Who doesn't like Ray Charles?

Brook Benton? He was popular 40 years ago. Why not just say you like Nat "King" Cole?

Jones' new CD is fittingly available at the Cracker Barrel Old Country Store.

* Here's a new

comedy sketch for you: "Jay Leno Throws People Under a Bus."

In an interview with Broadcasting & Cable magazine published online yesterday, Leno, whose show is struggling at 10 p.m., made nice with Conan O'Brien, whose show is struggling at 11:35 p.m. But when asked if he would like to return to the late-night time slot, he said:
