DENVER - There is a reason Blair Betts went unsigned until the last day of training camp in September. When Betts is healthy, everyone knows the impact he can have as a defensively responsible faceoff and penalty killing expert. TSN analyst Pierre McGuire once called Betts the most underrated player in the NHL. The New York Post said Betts - who played for the Rangers for four seasons before joining the Flyers this year - was the best penalty killer to ever play for New York.

The topic comes up around this time every year. Normally, Bob Clarke doesn't have much of an opinion on the next class to join him in the hallowed Hockey Hall of Fame in Toronto.

It would not be a reach to say that the Flyers are a different team since their Oct. 27 loss to the Washington Capitals.
IT'S HARD TO TELL what's more annoying: the Peter Forsberg saga in Europe or the attention that "Jon and Kate Plus 8" is still getting.
WE KNOW THE Flyers are willing to roll the dice. You simply need to glance at the Flyers' net and see Ray Emery to know that. They are never hesitant to spend the money necessary - and bump against the upper limit of the NHL's rigid salary cap - to try to win their first Stanley Cup since 1975.
It would be easy to glance at the Flyers' 3-2-1 record and think, well, they are on the right track.
There are a lot of hockey adages, and they all serve the game well. One of those proverbs, that a two-goal lead is the worst in hockey, is engrained in a hockey player's head at an early age.
Not only did the Flyers win in New Jersey on Saturday night, they sucker-punched the Devils with a 5-2 lashing that left them wondering what hit them.
