Dan Gross: Wyclef Jean showing boots
Jean, former member of the Fugees and a goodwill ambassador to his native Haiti, has collaborated with Timberland on a boot collection for the company's Earthkeepers line, made from recycled and organic materials. For every pair sold, $2 goes to Wyclef's Yele Haiti charitable organization.
Local VILLA sneaker stores will be the exclusive area retailer for the shoes. From 4 to 6 p.m. Nov. 4, Jean will be at VILLA (1018 Market) talking about the boots and Yele Haiti. The next day Jean joins VILLA employees, the Sixers and City Year at West Philly High all day to help construct a new gym, senior lounge and green space.
Crystal trips down memory lane
NB2 Apparel's Fred Lavner gave Billy Crystal a custom collection of tees and hoodies fashioned from Crystal's family's old New York City business, Commodore Records on 42nd Street.
Lavner, who met with Crystal at the Merriam Theatre, where the entertainer performed his "700 Sundays" show, says images of Billie Holliday and Lester Young and old 78 rpm record labels also brought back fond memories to the comic actor.
Phils revelry louder than rockers'
Although Them Crooked Vultures got a rousing welcome to the stage Monday at the Electric Factory, it was nothing compared to the applause that took off during their first song once cell phones signaled people about the Phillies win. The supergroup, comprising Led Zeppelin's John Paul Jones, Dave Grohl of the Foo Fighters/Nirvana and Josh Homme of Queens of the Stone Age/Kyuss, made Philly one of only nine tour stops.

Reese not in Ambler just yet
