Dan Gross: Special treat for a young girl

THE 11-YEAR-OLD Kensington girl who was raped on June 1 got to meet Beyonce at the superstar's Friday show at the Wachovia Center due to the efforts of several Philly Police officers and a veteran radio personality.

First District Police Officer Shamal Bryant is a friend of a cousin of the young girl and wanted to orchestrate a fun night out for the victim. She enlisted the help of fellow First District Officer Jayson Smith and their friend Ijnanya Alsbrooks in getting Park Avenue Limo to take the girl and her mother to and from the concert, and Bryant called Colby Colb Tyner, formerly of 100.3 The Beat, who got tickets through the Beat and also spoke with Beyonce's management to get the girl and her mother into a meet-and-greet with the singer.

Bryant previously arranged for Sneaker Villa to donate shoes to the child and for her to have a shopping spree at the Gap on Walnut Street in Center City. Stylist Tamara McIntosh did the girl's hair in her home.

We hear the girl had a wonderful time at the concert.

* By the way, Colby

Colb, who left The Beat last year, is working as an internship coordinator at the Mastery Charter High School in Germantown. The school was known as Pickett when he was there 20 years ago.

Wing Kong to tackle

Nathan's

Good luck to Micah "Wing Kong" Collins. The professional eater has qualified for the final table at the annual July 4 Nathan's Famous Hot Dog Eating Contest at Coney Island. The former Wing Bowl contender will square off alongside three-time Wing Bowl champ Joey Chestnut, who holds the Nathan's Mustard Yellow Belt. Japanese eating machine Takeru Kobayashi will also compete again this year, as will Patrick Bertoletti and Rich "The Locust" LeFevre, who got cheers in the past for chowing down at Wing Bowl wearing a Donovan McNabb jersey. Collins recently qualified in Charlotte, N.C. after two failed attempts.

Soulful tribute to MJ at Silk

A soulful tribute to Michael Jackson went down Monday night at Silk City (5th & Spring Garden), where Back to Basics drummer George "Spanky" McCurdy celebrated his birthday with a jam session. McCurdy, who has played with Kanye West, Diddy and Common, performed with Jaguar Wright, and with Eric Roberson and Marsha Ambrosius of Floetry.

Ambrosius talked about how wonderful it was to work with Jackson on "Butterflies" from his album "Invincible." She shouted out Philly producer Andre Harris and described how the song had been recorded at DJ Jazzy Jeff's Touch of Jazz studios. As she sang "Butterflies," Ambrosius wept, which led to many more tears from the crowd.

Sixers coach's D.C. goodbye

New Sixers coach Eddie Jordan and wife Charrisse held a big bash at their Potomac, Md., home over the weekend to say goodbye to some friends and family, reports the Washington Post's Reliable Source column.

The party invites looked like a 76ers ticket and dress code was pool-casual with Eddie in a hot-pink polo. The couple are keeping their D.C. digs and are buying a home here.

What's goin' on . . .
