Dan Gross: Surprise set from rockers in A.C.

GOOD CHARLOTTE rockers Benji and Joel Madden played a surprise acoustic set Friday at the private opening of Dusk, the new club at Caesars in Atlantic City.

It opens officially on July 4 with a party featuring the sounds of DJ AM, a partner in the club with owners Red Stripe Plane Group.

Nicole Ritchie accompanied husband, Joel Madden, to the party. She's seven months pregnant with the couple's second child and, if you'll recall, was once engaged to AM, raised as Adam Goldstein on Rittenhouse Square. AM was not there Friday.

Racing legend Mario Andretti and former Phillies catcher Darren Daulton were among guests at Dusk, where Mark Stylz, resident DJ at the Palms in Las Vegas, entertained the crowd in the main room while Philly's DJ Royale spun in the more-chill Dawn room. Defense attorney Chuck Peruto Jr., Wired 96.5's G-N Kang and self-made Internet sensation Arthur Kade were also at the party. Some guests were buzzing that Nick Nolte, in A.C. shooting a film called "Warrior," and Jennifer Aniston, there shooting "Bounty Hunter" with Gerard Butler, would show up. They did not.

Movie matters

* Reading native Wanda N. Colon's short film "Salt" recently won an award at the Houston Film Festival. Colon, who is in the middle of her third season as a designer on TLC's "Home Made Simple," is a graduate of Kutztown University, where she majored in theater and fine arts.

Colon, who has designed rooms for Kelsey Grammer and Kiss singer Paul Stanley, says that TV remains her primary focus.

* Voting ends Sunday in the Netflix Find Your Voice contest. Local filmmaker Jenny Deller's "Future Weather" is among pre-production films competing for a $150,000 production grant and movie equipment.

You can view trailers and vote at NetflixFindYourVoice.com.

Also, Deller's screenplay just won Showtime's Tony Cox Screenplay Award at the recent Nantucket Film Festival, chosen by a judges panel including Lily Taylor and Fisher Stevens.

* Bunny Gibson, the Darby- and

Northeast-raised actress and former "Bandstand" dancer, just worked on the movie "The Back-Up Plan," as the lead conga dancer in a scene that also featured Jennifer Lopez. Bunny says that she got a high-five from a very friendly J.Lo after their scene. Tom Bosley, "SNL" actress Michaela Watkins, Linda Lavin and Eric Christian Olsen also appear in the upcoming comedy.

And speaking of 'Bandstand'. . .

Gibson will be just one of the many former "Bandstand" dancers back in town July 15 for a fundraiser at the Enterprise Center (4548 Market), formerly the old WFIL headquarters, where "Bandstand" originated. The party is to raise money to repair the Studio B floor, which is deteriorating due to condensation from Mill Creek, which runs under the building. 98.1 WOGL's Tommy McCarthy will DJ. Tickets range from $50 to $200 and will be available at the door.

Congrats to Quinones

Congratulations to CBS 3's Todd Quinones, who was just engaged to Gosia Pietka, who works in the District Attorney's Office. As we reported on PhillyGossip.com Friday, Pietka, 30, a native of Przemysl, Poland, and Quinones, 34, closed on a Bella Vista home last week, and shortly after moving in Quinones popped the question. No wedding plans set yet.

Beyonce has bigger Philly crew

Last week we reminded you that Beyonce's trumpet player Crystal Torres was a Bucks County girl. We've since learned that there were a few more local faces on stage Friday when the pop princess played the Wachovia Center. Former Eagles Cheerleader Ashley Seldon and former Sixers dancer Kimberly Gipson have been touring with Bey. Seldon's Eagles Cheerleader pals Monica Devlin, Janette Repsch, Colleen Matresak, Ali Ciotto and Liz Nichols cheered for her Friday from a Center suite.

New name for racetrack casino

Philadelphia Park will announce its new name on July 4 with a fireworks show, which is said to be Bensalem Township's first Fourth of July fireworks.

The show is designed to keep noise down to not disturb and frighten horses stabled at the racetrack. Greenwood Gaming and Entertainment, which has run a slots parlor there for several years, will also announce the name of its new larger casino, slated to open there in December. *
