Gary Thompson: 'Star Trek' DVD features trial video game, gag reel

WITH APOLOGIES to Sacha Baron Cohen and "Bruno," it's "Star Trek" week on DVD, with two versions of the early summer hit available.

The $30 single disc includes the theatrical release and some special features - commentary from J.J. Abrams, a "production secrets" documentary, and a gag reel of blown takes.

The $37 two-disc special edition is larded with special features - five behind-the-scenes documentaries, deleted scenes and a trial version of the "Star Trek" video game.

As for the $29 "Bruno," Cohen's spotty second feature, it features, for the first time, a behind-the-scenes look at how Cohen and director Larry Charles set up their little "punk'd" scenarios. A $39 Blu-ray version includes a "BD-Live" feature that allows users to connect to the Internet for additional online and interactive features. (For more about "Bruno," see story below.)
