Eagles sign linebacker Boiman

The Eagles signed linebacker Rocky Boiman to a 1-year contract today.

Boiman (6-4, 236 pounds) has played six seasons in the NFL, the last two with the Colts. He started two games last season. He spent his first four seasons with the Tennessee Titans.

Boiman, 28, a Notre Dame product, had a career-high 64 tackles last season and also had two interceptions.

For his career, Boiman has posted 194 tackles, five interceptions (including one returned for a touchdown at Pittsburgh in 2003), 1.5 sacks, and 91 special-teams tackles. His role on special teams seems to have been what made him attractice to the Eagles, who are trying to improve in that area.

He was a fourth-round draft choice of the Titans in 2002.
