Naked man a serial predator?

The naked man who bolted out of Pennypack Park on Tuesday and attacked a woman might be a serial predator who has struck before, police said Wednesday.

The naked man who bolted out of Pennypack Park on Tuesday and attacked a woman might be a serial predator who has struck before, police said Wednesday.

Investigators detailed two other attacks - one from earlier this year, one from last year - that unfolded in the Northeast Philadelphia park, just off Frankford Avenue near Solly.

In all three cases, the female victims described their attacker and his approach in eerily similar fashion. All three victims described the attacker as a 6-foot-1 or 6-foot-2 white man in his late 30s with a muscular build.

Police said the first attack occurred about 8 p.m. on July 17, when a 43-year-old woman said she was forced to the ground by a naked man in the park. He bound her arms with plastic ties and sexually assaulted her, police said.

On May 18, police said, a 35-year-old woman said she woke up on a bench in the park about 4:30 a.m. after dozing off for a while. An attacker covered her face with a T-shirt, bound her wrists with plastic ties and sexually assaulted her. The attacker, the woman said, had little body hair and a light brown short haircut.

Then, on Tuesday, a 40-year-old woman said she was walking on Frankford Avenue, next to the park, when a man called out to her and forced her to the ground. An off-duty school police officer heard her cries for help, scaring off the attacker.

Investigators noted that none of the attacks have been linked by DNA evidence. Tipsters can contact police at 215-685-3251.
