Teens get 12 1/2 to 25 years in Starbucks manager’s slaying

The three North Philadelphia teenagers convicted of causing the death of a Starbucks manager on a subway platform last year were each sentenced today to 12 and a half to 25 years in state prison.

Following an emotionally wrenching hearing in Common Pleas Court, during which the parents of victim Sean Patrick Conroy fought back tears describing the impact of loosing their son, Judge Jeffrey Minehart imposed the sentences.

Ameer Best, 18, and Nashir Fisher, 17 had been convicted in August of third degree murder and conspiracy. Kinta Stanton, 17, had been convicted of involuntary manslaughter and conspiracy. The three teens, along with two others who have pleaded guilty, cut classes at Simon Gratz High school on March 26, 2008 and took the subway to Center City. On a dare, they attacked Conroy, 36, as he was walking to the Starbucks store that he managed on Market Street near City Hall. The beating that the teens gave the victim triggered a fatal asthma attack.

Not enough time for these punks. Imagen these three punks trying to protect their street cred in prison..hahaha. They would get their butts kicked. I where the judge I would sentence these 3 punks to death. I would make them do hard labor for 5 years cleaning the streets and picking up trash 12 hours a day 6 days a week then I would turn them over to the family of the victims and allow them to execute them anyway possible.

There are no winners in this story. However, at least these three now convicted felons have their lives, whereas the victim does not. Just another reminder that violence destroys lives and parents need to do a better job of teaching kids right from wrong.

A human life snuffed out = 12 1/5 to 25. Obviously the judge had no regard for human life either. God Bless his family, they were not treated fairly. Just the laughing and snickering in court warranted more time.
