Senior Scene - For the past 25 years, Joseph Orlando has worked at St. John's Hospice - a male homeless shelter in Philadelphia. Lima Estates residents help him fill his car three times a month with donated clothing that he brings to St. John's and donates the women's clothing to various other shelters in Philadelphia.
This ongoing ‘Seniors Helping Seniors’ effort is a testimony to the kind of people who work and live at ACTS Retirement-Life Communities. This caring bunch never quite really retires – instead many spend their 40 hour ‘work’ week volunteering. Let’s hope this tradition is passed on to their great-grandchildren and each successive generation.
