Two suspects sought in several Wawa heists

Philadelphia police are seeking the public's help in identifying two men responsible for at least four robberies of Wawa stores in the lower Northeast this month. Three of the crimes occurred at the same Frankford location.

The robbers have been described as black, ages 16 to 25, and standing 5 feet 6 inches and 6 feet 1 inch, respectively. Each weighs about 140 pounds.

The most recent heist occurred at Bustleton Avenue and Hellerman Street in Castor Gardens on Oct. 15. One of the robbers entered the Wawa at about 2:30 a.m. and demanded money from the cashier, who filled a bag with $521 from the register drawer and handed it to the robber. The cashier did not see a weapon.

The robber fled on foot southbound on Bustleton toward Roosevelt Boulevard. He was described as having a dark complexion and wearing a black and red 76ers hoodie, black sneakers and tan Dickies suit.

About 75 minutes earlier, police said, two men robbed the Wawa at 4500 Castor Ave. in Frankford. One of the crooks demanded money from a cashier, who stuffed $150 cash into a bag. No weapon was seen.

The robbers fled on foot northbound on Castor. Both are about 20 years old. The shorter one had a dark complexion and wore a brown leather jacket and blue jeans. The taller one had a dark complexion and wore a gray hoodie and blue jeans.

On Oct. 10 at about 6:30 a.m., a single robber struck at the same Castor Avenue Wawa, when he handed a demand note to a cashier and threatened to kill him if he attempted to scream for help. The robber ran off with a bag containing $75. He fled through the parking lot of a nearby Kmart and eastbound on Orthodox Street.

The first heist occurred on Oct. 5 at about 3:35 a.m. when two robbers fitting the same descriptions handed a cashier a demand note. The employee stuffed $81 into a bag and handed it to the men, who fled on foot through the Kmart lot and eastbound on Orthodox Street. Again, the crooks did not brandish a weapon.

Call Northeast Detectives at 215-686-3153 to report information about the robberies.
