Two men shot in Oxford Circle

One person remains hospitalized after a double-shooting last week in Oxford Circle.

Officers from the 2nd Police District responded to a radio call about a shooting on the 6000 block of Castor Ave. at 1:50 a.m. on Oct. 31.

When officers arrived, they found Khalif Hawkins, 28, in front of a house with 14 gunshot wounds. Ronald Phillips, 21, was found nearby on the 1400 block of Creston St. with a gunshot wound to the lower back.

Hawkins, of the 2500 block of N. Cleveland St. in North Philadelphia, was taken to Albert Einstein Medical Center, where he remains in critical condition.

Phillips, of the 6000 block of Elmhurst St. in Oxford Circle, was also taken to Einstein. He has since been released.

Phillips told police that he and Hawkins had just left the Easy Up Lounge when a black male in a gray hooded sweatshirt approached them and began firing. The male escaped north on Castor Avenue in a dark blue minivan.

Police recovered numerous .45-caliber and 9 mm spent shell casings.

Anyone with information on the case is asked to call Northeast Detectives at 215-686-3153 (54).
