Montgomeryville restaurant gives many reasons to come back

Whether you like your wings Hot, Caribbean Jerk or Southern Style, they’ve got your Wings To Go

Don’t be a chicken — get your fill of it at Wings To Go.

The restaurant specializes in Buffalo wings, which come in 30 different flavors, said Terry Jurczak, owner of the Montgomeryville location.

“The Hot is our big seller, but Golden Garlic Parmesan, Buffalo Garlic, Caribbean Jerk and Teriyaki are popular, too,” he said. “We also have Bar-B-Cide, which has a hickory flavor, and Homicide — if you dare.”

Boneless wings are available in all flavors, too, Jurczak said.

People have come from near and far to experience the restaurant’s award-winning wings, too: Jurczak said he recently met a couple that traveled from the Poconos.

“They said they had driven through the area once before, got the wings and had to come back,” he said. “It’s great to hear that from a customer, that you have something they can’t get anywhere else.”

The Montgomeryville Wings To Go recently added “southern-fried chicken” to its menu, which is healthier than traditional fried chicken, but just as delicious, the owner said.

“It’s cooked in a special-pressure fryer instead of an open fryer, so there is less fat,” he explained. “The fryer steams the water and grease out, so the grease doesn’t penetrate the chicken or skin.”

The result is juicy, tasty fried chicken, Jurczak said.

“Once it comes out, the outside is crisp and the inside is so tender,” he said, noting that the Wings To Go location is the only restaurant within 50 miles to offer that style of chicken.

The restaurant is about more than just chicken, though: Wings to Go also serves traditional pizza shop staples, such as hoagies, cheesesteaks, fries and hand-tossed Italian pizzas.

“You can come here and get everything in one shot,” Jurczak said, adding that the restaurant offers several types of fries — waffle, wedge, curly, cheese, etc. — so patrons “don’t have to settle.”

Everything at Wings To Go is made to order, too, Jurczak said.

“All of our chicken tenderloins are fresh and never frozen and we make our own pizza dough in the building,” he said.

“You might have to wait a few minutes or pre-order, but we do not use heat lamps,” he continued. “You don’t want to eat something that’s been sitting there — someone’s leftovers. You get fresh food whenever you walk in here.”

Wings To Go uses oil with zero grams of trans fat and cholesterol, the owner added. While the restaurant’s moniker indicates the food is “to go,” customers also can enjoy their meals there at high-top tables while watching sporting events on big-screen televisions, Jurczak said.

“It’s a really friendly atmosphere where the owner knows your name and offers you a handshake and a ‘hello,’” he said, adding that the restaurant is B.Y.O.B. “It’s almost like ‘Cheers.’”

The Montgomeryville store is in its 11th year of operation. The restaurant has a strong base of regular customers, which Jurczak says is his favorite part of the business.

“The friendships that have developed over the years extend past the store and the customer,” he said. “People have been coming here for years. They don’t even have to tell us their names anymore. You can almost set your watch by what time they order.”

The restaurant has tried to “give back” to customers by adding to the menu, but not raising prices for the last four years, he added.

Jurczak, who has been in the restaurant business since he was 14, says living and working in the township has helped maintain the value of the Wings To Go experience. “I think I’m more worried about the food and quality than other owners — absentee owners,” he said. “I see the same people here that I see at the movies or the supermarket. They’re my neighbors and friends.”

Wings To Go offers large orders and party trays, and orders for Independence Day parties are pouring in, Jurczak said. The restaurant also offers delivery and curbside pickup service.

Hours of Operation: Monday through Thursday 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Sunday 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
