Gynecology practice focuses on the needs of menopausal women

For a safe and effective way of revitalizing skin and treating the effects of menopause, visit Francesca Medical Aesthetics at the Gynecology and Menopause Center.

The Malvern facility, operated as part of Dr. Joseph Ferroni and Fran Thompson’s dual practice, specializes in non-surgical facial rejuvenation.

Francesca offers Botox; facial fillers, such as Restylane, Juvederm, Elevess and Sculptra; pore-cleansing facials; Latisse for longer and darker eyelashes; exclusive cosmeceuticals and cosmetics and more.

The center utilizes Thermage — radio frequency skin tightening and contouring for the face and body — and Isolaz light therapy for skin rejuvenation, uneven pigment, broken capillaries and hair removal.

Using the laser treatment also can be an effective and safe alternative in caring for acne without antibiotics, said Ferroni.

“Sometimes antibiotics like Accutane can be very dangerous,” he said. “Especially for kids who don’t want to go on antibiotics, the laser can have wonderful effects on acne treatment.”

The center, which opened in 2004, also offers medical-grade skin products — cleansers and rejuvenators — that can not be purchased over the counter, said Ferroni.

With summer behind us, now is an ideal time to consider skin rejuvenation, according to the doctor.

“For some of the procedures — especially the light-based ones for the skin, like hair removal and wrinkle reduction — you don’t want to be tan,” he said. “Now that we’re out of the warm weather, this is a good time of the year to do this.”

Ferroni and Thompson, a registered nurse clinician, personally perform all procedures at the facility.

“We want to ensure that all of our clients receive what is absolutely correct for both their wishes and their budget,” said Ferroni. “It is our goal to have our clients look better, healthier and younger without looking ‘overdone.’”

Patient safety and education are paramount, the doctor added.

“This is a friendly, caring atmosphere,” he said. “We always reach out to our patients and make sure they feel comfortable — there’s no fear or worry.”

The other half of the husband-and-wife team’s dual practice includes the Gynecology and Menopause Center.

While the facility sees patients of all ages, it specializes in the care of pre-menopausal and menopausal women over 40, said Ferroni.

The center offers routine gynecological care, female health screenings and consultations for the safe management of troublesome menopausal symptoms.

Ferroni, who has been in practice for 30 years, opened the center in 1999; after listening to the needs of his patients, the doctor felt opening Francesca Medical was a logical step.

“A lot of my patients would talk about skin problems — wrinkles, breaking out or hair growth,” he said. “Very often, I would refer them to a dermatologist, but I realized the idea of doing these non-surgical things seemed to go hand-in-hand with my practice.” Opting for non-surgical procedures appears to be the preferred route these days, he added.

“They have no downtime, are safer and are easier on the pocketbook,” said the doctor. “Especially in these economic times, women are looking for an alternative to what can often be very expensive plastic surgery.”

Patients receive free consultations at Francesca Medical Aesthetics.

For the month of October, clients can receive half price on Botox procedures or half price on Dysport — a brand-new, less-expensive alternative to Botox, said Ferroni. A half-price special when using two vials of Juvederm also is running throughout the month.

Francesca Medical Aesthetics and the Gynecology and Menopause Center are open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Some Saturday hours are available at Francesca Medical Aesthetics.
