The Weekly Entrée 9-13
Mt. Fuji Hibachi and Asian Fusion
Rating:
Whenever we were in the area, we’d drive by to see if it had quietly opened before we realized it.
But preperations took a year, and it recently opened. We found our patience was well rewarded. I must admit I was not ready for such a spectacular place.
A few restaurants in Bucks remind me of Center City restaurants but this one goes beyond a resemblance. It is a Center City establishment in Bucks.
It would easily fit in any major city in the country. It rivals any Asian restaurant I’ve been to in New York, Washington, D.C., Dallas and San Francisco.
It’s a true credit to the effort Yeung expended in his design. He visited many restaurants and selected the best features of them.
The first step in the front door took my breath away. The foyer floor is glass over an illusion of the ocean floor. The glass is so transparent, I wasn’t sure it was there and was hesitant to step as I felt I was stepping into the abyss.
The grandeur doesn’t stop there. Copper-colored posts and ceiling highlight the dining room. Large pictures are visually enhanced with screening made of silver beading, which gives it a certain elegance.
The bar stands out with its granite top, while the sushi bar has the latest in cooling systems ensuring the fish stays fresh.
I was so taken by the décor, I walked around the restaurant a number of times absorbing all it has to offer with its emission of a very relaxed, friendly atmosphere. Experiences from his two existing restaurants have been a plus as Yeung has planned for every possibility. For intimate small parties, a private room has been included.
As hibachi tables are a popular venue for families, Yeung has built three of them in an area separated from the dining room with a fourth hibachi table in another private room.
Yeung has enlisted two chefs; Japanese chef Yoshi and French chef Steven. With many years of experience between them, they are creating such delicacies as sake marinated short ribs, Hawaiian curry shrimp, Sakura duck and Chilean sea bass.
There are also six highly experienced sushi chefs at the sushi bar.
We got a great preview of what is available with a sampling from sushi rolls that thrilled the taste buds to lobster tail that was perfectly grilled.
Each bite left us craving more. The sushi was very fresh and the Hawaiian curry shrimp served on bamboo sticks served with edamame pancakes were especially delicious.
The Peruvian shrimp in lemon honey sauce was equally delicious.
Taking it one step at a time, Yeung has opened this elegant restaurant with plans to open the patio for alfresco dining within the coming year. This will allow diners to sit overlooking the Newtown Bypass while enjoying this fine food.
Yeung has accomplished his goal of an ultra-modern restaurant serving Asian fusion cuisine, but I don’t believe he has the type of personality to stop at this.
At the very least, he will continue to improve what he has.
With its beauty and excellent food Mt. Fuji in Langhorne rates an AHHHHH (5) out of 5 AHs.
