PW comes together during homecoming week
The College and Career Center at Harry S. Truman High School, led by counselors Mark Kaye and Sue Morgan, is designed to help students get on the right path toward furthering their education and success.
Funded by a grant from the State Department of Education, the Career Center really expanded its usage in the beginning of the 2008-2009 school year and is attracting even more attention from students this year.
The students use a career-finding Web site to use an online assessment to match personal interest with various careers. The next step is to search through the careers and decide their preference. After that, a college major is chosen along with the right colleges.
The Center also helps with college applications, essays, teacher and counselor recommendations, and financial aid. It even provides evening seminars for parents who are curious about the financial aid and college process.
Kaye has been very excited about this year.
“This has been very enjoyable for me. To see so many students walk in here every day with the will to continue their education,” said Kaye, “it’s truly an educational experience.”
