Altomonte’s provides authentic Italian foods and more

The family-owned and -operated market features a variety of Italian delicacies, a full-service butcher, bakery, pastry counter and deliciously prepared meals.
“We use all quality products while making and preparing each item we sell,” said Amy DiBenedetto, office manager. “We bake our own breads and tomato pies. We make our own sauces. From our soups, to the hot bar, to the pastas, to the products on our shelves, we have items you can’t find at a normal grocery store.”
The market, with locations in Warminster and Doylestown, touts its family-centric philosophy.
“Our motto is, ‘Serving the best from our family to yours for 37 years,’” said DiBenedetto. “We’ve been around for awhile. Our customers know us. We know our customers.”
Altomonte’s originally opened as a butcher shop in Philadelphia, she said, and, almost four decades later, is still giving customers the quality meats they love.
“Anything you’re looking for, our butchers — who have more than 20 years experience — can get it,” she said, adding that Altomonte’s offers fresh turkeys during Thanksgiving and will begin taking orders next month.
For Christmas, the market features fillets and stuffed and unstuffed roasts; for Easter, customers can take home goat, lamb and specialty pigs.
Altomonte’s deli carries Boar’s Head and Dietz & Watson meats, plus its own, said DiBenedetto.
The pastry counter offers tasty desserts, such as Italian rum cake, sheet cakes, cannoli, tiramisu, butter cookies, biscotti, cheesecakes and much more, she said. “During the holidays, our panettone (Italian Christmas bread) is very popular,” the manager added. “You can’t get that anywhere else during Christmas time.”
The Warminster location features a “grab-and-go” section that sells prepared dinners, including chicken parmigiana, penne and vodka sauce, baked ziti, chicken and broccoli, lasagna and more.
Both locations sell frozen entrées, from individual to party sizes, she added. Altomonte’s also has a full-service catering department for parties, corporate events and the holidays. A full catering menu is available online at www.altomontes.com.
For a an easy meal, the market offers family dinners every Monday night. Customers can get a hot entrée, bread, salad and a dessert that feeds four to six people for $24.99.
