Make a grand ascent with Lomonaco’s Iron Concepts & Home Décor

Step up your stairway or transform the inside of your house this summer with Lomonaco’s Iron Concepts & Home Décor.

The Sewell-based business specializes in custom and fabricated staircases, ironwork, woodwork and interior design, said owner John Lomonaco.

“We take out old stairways, railings, put in iron spindles, replacement treads and risers — anything to do with the stairway,” he said.

The focus is on iron railings, spindles and balusters, for which there are “an infinite amount of finishes,” Lomonaco said, including copper vein powder-coated, metallic, textures, steel-coated and antiquing.

The most popular finishes are satin black, which Lomonaco said has a “timeless feel that never goes out of style,” and oil-rubbed bronze.

Lomonaco’s Iron Concepts also can take a carpeted stairway and turn it into hardwood stairs, open up a “closed” stairway or build an entirely new stairway.

“We transform the bland to grand,” said the owner.

The business emphasizes its personal approach to each job.

“We don’t look at them as clients; by the end of it, we’ve become friends,” Lomonaco said. “Once we develop that relationship, they know they can deal with only one company for most of their major home-improvement projects.”

Lomonaco’s Iron Concepts recently branched out to offer interior design services; the owner’s wife, Beverly, is a certified interior decorator and can help add style to the home.

The business is a distributor of Arte de Mexico, which offers a variety of interior design products, including ornamental iron tables, log racks, fireplace screens and more.

Customers also can rely on Lomonaco’s for granite countertops, painting, hardscaping and landscaping to improve the quality of their homes.

“I offer all these services so that I am not just another contractor to my clients,” the owner said. “I am their go-to guy for all of their home improvement projects.”

Lomonaco also offers extended home improvement service through his and his two brothers’ business, Guida Inc. Door & Window, to help create a comprehensive look in the home.

The company, with locations in Philadelphia and Boothwyn, Pa., has manufactured steel and fiberglass entry door systems, plus custom work, for the residential market for the last 59 years.

All of Lomonaco’s Iron Concepts’ sales are done within the home, and an array of samples is shown during a free consultation for customers to get a feel for the products, the owner said.

The business generally serves all of South Jersey, but can work with clients outside the area, he added.

“If they are outside our scope of distance, we try to use technology as much as possible,” he explained. “They can send digital photos, and we’ll explain to them how to use our Web site’s stair rail building tool.”

The site, www.lomonacosironconcepts.com, features a catalog of products for customers to view. The items can be dropped right into the digital tool to give the homeowner an idea of the finished product.

If they decide to go with a custom design, Lomonaco said, a computer-aided design would be used.

The company’s installations are under warranty for five years, and spindles are guaranteed for the lifetime of the house, said Lomonaco.

Right now, the business is offering up to $400 off iron spindles. Restrictions apply. Lomonaco has been in the industry for more than 20 years and has established many resources to help clients with a variety of needs.

“Our ultimate goal is for the customer to be 100-percent satisfied so they feel comfortable recommending us to family or friends,” he said. “Our reputation means everything, and our craftsmanship is second to none.”

“I go above and beyond the call of duty,” he continued. “This is not just a job — it’s a passion of mine.”
