Spend a day with the girls at my Girlfriends Boutique

Find fashionable and affordable clothing and jewelry — and a few gal pals in the process — at my Girlfriends Boutique.

The Medford shop offers “boutique clothing without the boutique prices” for women of all ages, said co-owner Angela Cocivera.

“We handpick everything from all over the country and find some great stuff,” she explained. “It’s real clothing for real women at real prices.”

My Girlfriends Boutique carries sizes 0 to 16 in several lines handmade in the United States, such as Salaam Clothing, Veronica M and DB Sport.

The award-winning boutique also carries shoes, bags and jewelry, including unique pieces from Earthly Adornments by Marilyn and “shadowbox jewelry” — custom-designed pieces created from a customer’s personal mementos, said Cocivera.

In addition to its non-boutique pricing, my Girlfriends sticks to a “non-boutique attitude,” said the co-owner.

“Everybody who comes in our door becomes a girlfriend,” Cocivera said. “We’re not stuffy. We’re laid back. When you’re here, you’re just one of the girls.” The store has a lounge area complete with big-screen television.

“We’ll put on cartoons for your kids or football for your husband while you shop,” said Cocivera.

Customers can not only spend an afternoon shopping at my Girlfriends Boutique, but also host a private shopping party as a fun social event.

“We do food and drinks and create the invites — you just send them out,” said Cocivera. “There are specials, and the hostess gets shopping credits. It’s a fun time for the girls to hang out and shop.”

The boutique also hosts the shopping parties as fundraisers, wherein an organization receives a portion of the sales generated.

My Girlfriends also puts on charity fashion shows and works closely with the Medford Home and School Association and City of Hope medical center, said Cocivera.

Before opening up shop in August 2007, co-owner Nadine Garber was running her own handbag and jewelry business.

“When [Nadine] started to get busy, she said, ‘You know so much about fashion — come help me’,” said Cocivera. “We started to get into clothing and wanted to branch out on our own.”

The friends had their eyes on a downtown Marlton location.

“When that space became available, we rented it not even knowing what we’d put there,” she said. “Low and behold, [our business] grew from out of our cars to a 1,550 square-foot location.”

Two weeks ago, my Girlfriends moved from its original Main Street location in Marlton to a larger store in the Taunton Forge Shopping Center in Medford, said Cocivera. The shop continues to stick by its affordable philosophy, she added.

“Our customers have followed us over here,” she said. “They’re all loving the fact that we’re three times the size, but carry the same prices and atmosphere.”

Right now, my Girlfriends Boutique is transitioning into its fall lines of clothing and offering excellent clearance sales, said Cocivera. The store also offers a 10-percent military discount.

From now until Labor Day, my Girlfriends Boutique is open Monday and Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Wednesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The store is closed on Sunday.

Fall hours will be Monday and Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Wednesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
