Paradise Chem-Dry takes a thorough approach to carpet cleaning

Paradise Chem-Dry guarantees a spot-on experience for carpet and upholstery cleaning.

The Turnersville business handles general carpet cleaning, heavy stains and pet odor removal in residential, commercial and municipal settings. The business also works on carpeting in cars, vans and boats, and cares for leather and fabric furniture.

The process is “green and clean,” said administrative coordinator Mary Alliano, adding that the patented mineral cleaning solution — the Natural — is biodegradable, non-toxic and an anti-allergen.

The solution uses carbonated bubbles that push dirt and soil to the surface. A rotary buffer lifts the material from the carpet into a specially made “bonnet” pad, she said.

Chem-Dry uses a fine spray that wets only the fibers of the carpet, preventing damage that other cleaning techniques can cause, Alliano said.

“If you wet all the way down to the under flooring, it causes mold and mildew from oversaturation,” she explained. “It can deteriorate the backing of the carpet and disintegrate the padding underneath.”

The process, which takes between one and two hours, is much faster than steam cleaning, she said.

“Steam cleaning takes 24 to 48 hours,” she said. “They push their chemical and soap solution all the way down in the carpet and spend hours trying to extract it because there’s so much in there.”

In the end, only 70 percent of soil is removed, and the carpet treated with steam cleaning is covered with a soap scum “barrier” that prevents any more dirt from being removed, she said.

Paradise’s “eraser” is a pH booster added to the general cleaning solution to treat heavily soiled carpets. The business also offers sanitation treatments to get rid of bacteria, mold and fungus, and protection treatments.

“The protection is put in with our general cleaning solution, and it coats the whole fiber, individually,” Alliano said. “It’s like wax on a car: The protection is all around the fiber, so if there’s a spill, it gives the person a chance to get to it before it permeates.”

Paradise Chem-Dry offers “Purt” — pet urine removal treatment — a five-week cleaning process for a spot an animal has soiled on several occasions, Alliano said.

“It’s the only product guaranteed to get rid of pet odor,” she said. “If they smell the slightest smell — as long as the pet has been kept away — we will come back and do it again at no charge.”

The family-owned and -operated business offers a 14-day guarantee that states Paradise will come back free of charge if there is a problem with the work done. There are “safeguards” for the business, though, Alliano said, to prevent anyone taking unfair advantage.

“For example, some people will get their carpets cleaned around Thanksgiving or Christmas, have a party and call us two days later to have the carpet cleaned again,” she said. “That’s not covered.”

Alliano’s husband, Bob, and nephew, Frank Paradise, own the business, which serves seven counties (Atlantic, Burlington, Camden, Gloucester, Delaware, Montgomery and Philadelphia) seven days a week.

Office hours are 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday.

Paradise Chem-Dry always offers discounts and specials available in mailers and to repeat customers.
