Keep home temperature in check this winter with Ward’s
Keep your comfort level high as the temperature drops.
Heating and air conditioning equipment should be inspected once a year and now is one of the best times to do so, said Tom Ward, owner of Ward Fuel Company in Riverton.
“Homeowners should be getting their furnaces checked to make sure they’re operating properly and that there are no cracks or birds in their chimneys creating a situation and backing things up,” he said.
Scheduling equipment checkups also eliminates the potential for carbon monoxide poisoning.
“People won’t know it’s happening because they can’t smell it, but carbon monoxide is a deadly gas,” Ward explained.
His business, also known as Austermuhl and Ward, specializes in sales and service of gas and oil heat, boilers, radiant heat, central air conditioning, humidifiers, gas water heaters and more.
“Anything to do with heating and air conditioning, we do it,” he said.
Ward and his father founded the business in 1974, during the oil embargo; the family built from there, said Ward, and purchased Austermuhl & Son — in business since 1861 and considered the oldest Bryant HVAC contractor in New Jersey — in 1996.
The company sells products from Tappan, Sanyo, Fujitsu, SpacePak, Weil McClain, Burham, April Aire, Honeywell and Field, according to its Web site, www.wardheatingandair.com.
Throughout its 35 years, Ward Fuel Company has established a strong customer service record.
“We had a gentleman the other day who said he’s been so satisfied with the service he’s received over the years,” said Ward. “We put his air conditioner in 20 years ago, and he never had any real problems with it.”
All Ward Fuel Company employees — many who have been there for more than a decade — are certified and factory trained, said Ward.
The business is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and offers 24-hour emergency service, said the owner. The company operates within a 25-mile radius in New Jersey.
Free estimates on any service or equipment are available, he said. The business offers a 10-year warranty on parts and a one-year warranty on labor.
Right now, Ward Fuel Company is offering a $100 discount on heating and a $100 discount on air conditioning, plus 10 percent off service calls. Senior citizen discounts also are available.
