Rapidly growing law firm Fox Rothschild announced its biggest merger yet on Thursday, expanding its geographic reach as it adds 130 attorneys from the Southeast firm Smith Moore Leatherwood, of Charlotte, N.C.

The addition of six offices in Georgia, North Carolina, and South Carolina gives the Philadelphia-based firm a toehold "in some of the most rapidly developing markets in the country," said Fox chairman Mark L. Silow in a statement. Through the merger, Fox gains offices in:Atlanta, Ga.; Charlotte, Greensboro, Raleigh, and Wilmington, N.C.; and Greenville, S.C.

The merger will take effect Nov. 1 and boosts the overall number of attorneys under the Fox Rothschild umbrella to 900.  For Fox, the combination adds stronger resources in the practice areas of manufacturing, clean energy, transportation and logistics. Smith Moore Leatherwood also has a significant sports law practice.
