Two motorcyclists were killed Thursday in accidents on the Schuylkill Expressway, the state police said.

Just before 3 a.m. near South Street, a 41-year-old Delaware man lost control of his black 2011 Harley-Davidson and was thrown from the motorcycle. He landed in the left lane and was struck white 2003 Acura TL driven by a 59-year-old Philadelphia woman. The man was pronounced dead at the scene. A third vehicle struck crash debris. No other injuries were reported.

Another motorcyclist was killed late Thursday night in a crash on the expressway near Girard Avenue. The accident occurred around 10:30 p.m. and caused the closure of Interstate 76 in both directions for several hours. No further details about that crash were available.
