A 2-year-old boy was critically wounded in a double shooting Friday night in Kensington, police said.

Just after 9:15 p.m., police responded to the 3300 block of Malta Street and found the child had been wounded four times in the back by gunfire. Officers rushed the boy to St. Christopher's Hospital for Children, where he was listed in critical condition.

A 26-year-old man was shot in the right knee and was taken by police to Temple University Hospital, where he was reported in stable condition. Police said the man had been sitting on a porch and was holding the boy when two males on bicycles approached and opened fire.

The suspects, who were last seen heading south on Potter Street from Westmoreland Street, remained at large late Friday, police said.
