Cartoonists rip Trump over his war with Republicans

How the nation's top political cartoonists viewed the open war between Republican senators and President Trump.

Every weekend, we round up the best takes on the news from political cartoonists.

"Do not underestimate the UNITY within the Republican Party!"

That's what President Trump tweeted Thursday in response to reports that the GOP was coming apart at the seams over his often-uncivil presidency.

Two prominent Republican senators — Bob Corker of Tennessee and Jeff Flake of Arizona — came out hard against Trump this week after announcing they would not seek re-election.

The two followed in the footsteps of Arizona Sen. John McCain, who mocked Trump this week for receiving five deferments to avoid serving during the Vietnam War. And Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has declared war against Trump strategist Steve Bannon.

Unity, this certainly is not.
