Bucks County man sentenced to up to 10 years for sexually assaulting sleeping woman

A Kintnersville man who sexually assaulted a woman at his home last October was sentenced Wednesday to five to 10 years in state prison, the Bucks County District Attorney's Office said Thursday.

Dylan R. Rodd, 22, who pleaded guilty to two counts of aggravated indecent assault, apologized to the victim in court, calling the impact of his actions "life-changing" for her, the District Attorney's Office said.

The victim, a 28-year-old Philadelphia woman, had been sleeping in a friend's room at Rodd's Beverly Drive house around 4 a.m. when Rodd entered the room and attacked her, authorities said.

Rodd fled his Nockamixon Township house after the assault with a bloody face — the victim scratched his face and shoulder during the attack — and was later found in a nearby shed, crying and saying, "I'm sorry. … There's something wrong with me," authorities said.

The victim had DNA under her fingernails that matched Rodd's, they said.

In court, Rodd expressed remorse. "Words can't describe how you must feel, and I'm truly sorry," he said.

The victim said in a written statement that she has had trouble sleeping and focusing on her final year of graduate school since the assault.

The Pennsylvania Sexual Offenders Assessment Board determined that Rodd did not meet the criteria of being labeled a sexually violent offender, the District Attorney's Office said, but he will have to register in Pennsylvania as a sex offender.
