15-year-old bicyclist fatally hit in Brick, N.J.

A 15-year-old boy was killed late Saturday night when his bike collided with an SUV in Brick Township, Ocean County.

The boy, who was not identified, crossed the busy intersection of Route 40 and Burnt Tavern Road, when he was struck around 10:45 p.m., according to Brick Police Sgt. Robert Hine.

Police don’t suspect alcohol was a factor and have not charged the driver, Kathleen Calabro, 68, of Toms River, who was driving a 2017 Subaru Forester. The boy had entered the intersection against the traffic signal, police said.

The investigation into the crash is continuing, police said.
