Penn Police officers began dismantling barricades at the Gaza Solidarity Encampment on Wednesday, seven days after it was built.

Tensions grew when a Palestinian flag being flown by the pro-Palestinian group flew in the face of a pro-Israel supporter who then grabbed the flag and tried to pull it away. Penn police and Philadelphia civil affairs officers then stepped in to calm things down on College Green in the heart of the University of Pennsylvania campus in Philadelphia on Thursday, May 2, 2024.
